Cupcake Celebration!

Happy Woot-Woo-Wednesday! Prickley Pear Fans! Tia here from RockyMtnCraftia.com. I don't know which I love more, birthdays or cupcakes. But when you bring them together...that's a party! Today we're creating one of  those much needed birthday cards for your stash. I know you're busy making the "holiday cards", but take a break with me for a little Cupcake-Celebration!

Today's design team card features the stamp set: Build A Cupcake and the Cupcake Die.

The Design:

This was a really fun and fast card to make. I've been eager to "build a cupcake" with this super cute and ingenious stamp set. I love sets like this-that give you SO many creative options! Talk about bang for your buck!

I keep all of my birthday themed design papers, tags, stickers and embellishments in one storage container. There I found some Project Life cards that made me smile. I pulled matching cardstock in teal, orange and red for my card base. I threw out the red & orange cardstock after I looked at my embellishments and decided I wanted to use red sequins.

Coloring:

Next I built my cupcake (yes, I'm seriously smiling right now!) it really was fun! I stamped my image with London Fog-Memento Ink (Copic Friendly). With the light colored lines I wanted to do no-line coloring.

Candies: R17; R29; White Gelly Roll Pen

Wrapper: Y08; YR14; BG10; BG23; BG13

The Layout:

After coloring both pieces, I die cut the images with the coordinating dies. I love that the die set cuts close to the images! No excess to trim away.

I created an A2 card base (4.25 x 5.5in) from Bermuda Bay cardstock. I offset both cards, letting them hang off the edges and then trimmed off the overhang. I added foam tape to the back of the cupcake and glued sequins around it . I finished my card by wrapping the top with a piece of white organza ribbon (just like a gift!).

I completed this birthday card using the 'Happy Birthday' sentiment from the set stamped onto a scalloped oval die from Prickley Pear and adhered inside.

Thursday with the Design Team!!

Happy Thursday!

Here we go with more inspiration with the talented Prickley Pear Design Team. 

Let's start with Irit today. Irit has created this adorable house with the Row Houses set. With the matching dies, this set is great to make little scenes on your creation. 

Michelle's "eye" catching card uses the Large Eyes stamp as background to this pretty Butterfly Sentiments image. The sentiment on this card is called Live in the Moment.

 

Michelle's created a second card with the Live in the Moment sentiment. This one features Lola the Fairy.


Heather's still getting inky with the stamps of the recent New Release. This is Bat in the Moon and Scratch the Cat. Those adorable cat faces? They come from the new Halloween Banner set, along with the "Boo" sentiment.



Heidi's also getting crafty with the New Release. This beauty was created with the stamps of the Fall/Halloween Cupcakes.

Celebrations!

July is just around the corner and we've got Canadian and US Design Team members who are getting ready to celebrate their national holiday. 

And so this week we bring you celebrations. 

Not necessarily patriotic celebrations, but celebrations for any special event! 

Turns out what the Prickley Pear Design Team has been celebrating lately is birthdays...

Here is Tracie celebratory birthday card, using the Bold Daisies from our May release. Sentiment is from the Circles Set. 

 

Heather has brought out the Butterfly Sentiments and Butterfly Die for this great way to use up your favorite scraps. Did you know the Buttefly Die goes with three other sets besides this one? 

 

Lisa is getting crafty with the Build a Cupcake set, one of three sets that work with the Cupcake die set.

 

Inside you'll find sentiments from the same set and a place to tuck in a little gift for the birthday gal or guy. 

 

And one more from Heather. This overflowing birthday basket is made with the cone from the Build an Ice Cream set. The florals are from the Poinsettia Leaf die. And, sentiment is from the Mini Butterflies 2 set.

Prickley Pear Card Kits

Welcome Fans of Prickley Pear Stamps!

Are you signed up for the Prickley Pear email? 

If you go to the Prickley Pear main website and scroll to the very bottom, you'll find a newsletter sign up in the lower right corner. 

You'll be notified of any specials, New Releases and you'll also be notified when the new monthly Card Kit is released in the store. 

What is the monthly card kit? 

Prickley Pear recently introduced card kits to their store inventory. These kits are a great way to add Prickley Pear stamps and dies to your collection and at a great price.  

But don't delay! Card kits are limited! Our March kit sold out, but you can still get the April and May kit (while quantities last).

The current May kit features the Coffee Cup clear set and matching Coffee Cup die set. The kit also includes all the pre-cut papers you need to make the two cards shown below, plus a mini distress ink and applicator sponge.

The stamp sets along have a retail value of almost $34. At only $29.99 for the May Kit, that's a more than 10% discount on the cost of the stamp sets alone! 

  

There is also still some inventory of the April Card Kit. The April Card Kit featured our Build a Cupcake clear stamp set and Cupcake die set. Once again, the kit includes instructions and pre-cut material to make the two cards shown, including a package of rhinestones to embellish your creations.

Sweet Treats

Is the Easter chocolate finally gone? 

Time to find out what Sweet Treats are waiting in the Prickley Pear store. 

Life is always sweeter with cupcakes! Heidi's opened this sweet shop with the Build a Cupcake clear set. There are four icing options and three cup options that are easily cut and assembled with the Cupcake Die set. 




And, if that isn't enough for you, there are two additional cupcake sets available. The Valentine Cupcakes, shown here, and a Christmas Cupcake option. Yum!

 

If cupcakes aren't your thing, what about ice cream? This is the Build an Ice Cream set and it is also available with a matching die.

Ready for Birthdays

If you're like me, you're always looking to keep a stash of birthday cards on hand. Recently, my stash was dwindling, so I decided it was time to sit down and craft some up. 

Prickley Pear has a large selection of options that make great birthday cards! Here are some the Design Team has created.

On this card, Heather cut out flowers using the Mini Hibiscus and Flowers die sets. She stamped florals from the Flowers 2 clear stamp set onto the die cut outs and then used the sentiment from Build an Ice Cream. 

 

Heidi's creation with the Build an Ice Cream set and matching die makes a bright, cheerful birthday card. Color those cones up in as 31 flavors for an easy-to-grab option for any age. 
Also featured on this card is the Flourish Die.

 

Washi tape makes a quick and easy birthday card solution too. Here, Tracie has added some colorful tape to her background and the added an image and sentiment from the Dragonflies 2 set.
 


Sometimes the unexpected sets make great birthday cards too. This card from Heather features the Steampunk Gears 3 and Gears 2 stamp sets. And, no fussy cutting those gear edges with the Steampunk Gears die. 

 

Michelle's changed it up a bit with this easy gatefold card. Featuring the Build a Cupcake set, there are endless creative birthday options with just one stamp set and matching die.

Thursday Inspiration!

Happy Thursday, Prickley Pear Fans!

Can you believe it's March already? 
As we leap towards spring in the our corner of the globe, I keep looking for signs that spring is on it's way.

Perhaps we need to look no further than today's creations by the Design Team?

First up is Tracie, who we welcome to the Prickley Pear team this month. Welcome Tracie! 

Tracie has created this adorable card with Singing Bluebirds and the sentiment is from the Circles clear set.

 

Great minds think alike it seems, as Katie has also gone headed to the sky with her birthday card. This card uses the Butterflies clear set and matching Butterfly die. She has also used Blobby Flowers 2, cut with the matching dies. 

This elegant creation, also by Katie, would be a perfect grab and go card for any celebration, birthday or otherwise. Katie's stamped her background with Spring Scalloped Circles and made her medallion with the Scalloped Circle Die.



What's not to love about this beauty? Donna has found the key to my heart with her gorgeous coloring of this Valentine Cupcake. 

And Sharon spreads more love for the those Love Banners with this blue and white beauty, featuring There is Only One Happiness.
