Christmas in August With The Newest Ramona and Spinach Stamp Set!

Hello Prickley Pear Pals!  Joy here with you sharing Christmas with Spinach and Ramona.  Aren't they just adorable?   If you didn't know they are brand new this month!  These two are happily decorating their Christmas Tree with beautiful ornaments, some are dragon flies, others mushrooms mixed in with the traditional type. You might be asking where can I find Spinach and Ramona? Prickley Pear Stamps, of course!!!

Prickley Pear Stamps

Christmas with Spinach and Ramona come in a clear 6x6 inch stamp set and has perfect sentiments for the holiday season, as well as some smaller imagess to build your scene. For this sample, I stamped the large image and then added one mushroom to the left corner of the card, just to add a little something extra. I figure frogs are hibernating in the winter so I dressed them in fun summer colors for Christmas in August. But, really our imaginations can work over time with these two.

For more Christmas inspiration from Prickley Pear stamps be sure to checkout these posts that I did in July! Here and Here!

After stamping them with Memento ink, I colored them with Copics. I thought it would be fun to blend a sky using a Gina Marie Designs stencil. You could use anything in your stash to do this too! For added sparkle and shine I used Diamond Stickles and Glossy Accents. I think that turned out pretty nice!

Now about the rest of the release, there are two more stamps in this release, one is a large Thanks Font stamp, as well as the Doggone Good Friend stamp set. These two stamps have coordinating dies, but Spinach and Ramona don't at this time.

Well, friends, I hope you’re feeling inspired from this post! Tag me on Instagram if you make a project using this as inspiration!! I’d love to see how you made it your own!! Xx, Joy

Collaging Your Stamps to Create a Christmas Scene

Hey it's Joy and I'm kicking off my Christmas In July by collaging the cuties from the Koala Santa and Mrs Claus stamp set.   You're probably asking what is collaging, are we getting out the modge podge and tearing paper into strips.  Nope... but if that's your thing go for it.  For me it means taking really cute die cut images and layering them up to create a cute little scene.

Koala Santa and Mrs Claus

I colored the each of the stamped images from the Koala Santa and Mrs Claus set with Copic markers in traditional Christmas colors and then die cut them out with the coordinating dies. I love a lot of layers on my cards, so I used a simple collage method to create the scene. Of course there was some foam tape used to create the dimension. Once it was complete, I thought the top of the card needed a little interest so I stamped one of the Christmas Banner stamps in black and cut it with the Banner die set which comes with three different sizes. I thought it would be fun to cut two of the banners using patterned papers to compliment the colors in my design. But what I love most is the Christmas Banner stamp set because you can create your own patterned paper!

Graphic Design Elements for Handmade Cards

Hey there, it's Joy!  How are you today?  I am sharing a quick and easy card with you today, but's jammed packed with elements of graphic design that you can apply to card making, scrapbook layouts, journals, etc.  I learned these tips all the way back in High School while doing the year book... do they even make those anymore? I'm aging myself now!  Yikes!

Sketched Florals- Lavender

I made this card during a Facebook Live if you are interested in watching how it came together.  You can find it HERE!

Working in odd numbers, especially three is very pleasing to the eye and id proven that it maintains people's interest longer. This is why you will see most graphic design done this way. Also presenting images so that they are facing inward and not off the page captures the eye. If for instance the butterfly on the right was facing to the right or looking off the page, the viewer would automatically look for more action to be going on outside of the frame. My sweet yearbook teacher taught me that while I was learning how to make layouts for my senior year. There aren't many things I remember about that class except for who I was dating, and a few yearbook tips and tricks. Can you tell I was ready to get out of school...

As you can tell I stamped the Sketched Florals Lavender along the left of the card and matted it in a darker shade to make it pop. I did the same with the Mini Butterflies 2 images as well. I tend to like texture an dimension on my cards, so I made sure to stamp the images with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink because I know that I can use other dye inks to blend over it and not smear it. Some black dye inks on the market are known to smear when other dye inks are blended with them, so be sure to do a test run ahead of time.

Well, friends, I hope you’re feeling inspired from this post! Tag me on Instagram if you make a project using this as inspiration!! I’d love to see how you made it your own!! Hugs, Joy
