February 3, 2023 Brighter Days Ahead Stamp Set CLR285

Hi Pear Pals! Tia here with you from RockyMtnCraftia.com. The Prickley Pear Design Team and I are really having a blast with the newest addition to the Southwestern Release series. You've seen it this week and are probably just in love with it as we are! The set is called Brighter Days Ahead and I've linked it here to take you straight to the store!

Being that I'm a Rocky Mtn girl, I saw mountains and desert blended together and that's what I colored.

Card Design

If you're looking for a short cut, look to your design papers! I have a great pack of water colored cardstock backgrounds from Momenta.

I stamped and fussy cut the focal image. I then colored with COPICS and moved the piece around my 8x8 in piece of design cardstock until I found the background I wanted.

I love how the pinks in the cardstock lined up with my pink sunrise!

Card Layout

I used an A2 sized card base. I traced the size of my focal image cutout onto the designer cardstock. It was a little shy of the 4.25 x 5.5 in card base, so I looked to create a 'frame' for it.

A Spellbinders label die was used to cut a piece of kraft paper. I opted for kraft to mimic the brownish tones of the desert and really let the sunrise colors shine.

Don't forget one of the TEN fabulous sentiments that come with this set! There wasn't any room left on my card to stamp it, so I stamped and circle cut it, then popped it up on foam tape in the corner. To draw your eye there, I edged it with Vintage Photo & Worn Lipstick Distress Inks.

COPIC Coloring

I wanted to bring in a lot of subtle colors in the same tones. The coloring technique I used was 'tip to tip'. I used the lightest color and touched it to the tip of the darkest color. Ex. The pink skyline is RV09. I then used RV63 touched the RV09 to draw a 'middle-shade' before coloring with the RV63 for the lightest shade. I used this technique all the way down my card and even on the cactus.

Sun: Y19; Y08; Y13

Saguaro Cactus: YG97; G94; G46; YG23; G07

Prickley Pear Cactus: YG45; BG57; BG34; G12; T4

Brighter Days Ahead

Hey there friends! I am here today sharing another beautiful stamp set called "Brighter Days Ahead, CLR285" it is an addition to the Southwest collection at Prickley Pear Stamps.

I have colored my image with Copics, on Hammermill Premium Color Copy Cover paper 100lb. I cute the image out and popped it up on an ink background done with Distress Oxides.

January 30, 2023, Brighter Days Ahead CLR285 Stamp Set

Hey Y'all!!! Teresa here with this beautiful new addition to the Southwest Collection at Prickley Pear Stamps. What a great addition to the collection this happy desert scene makes. Stay tuned all week for new ideas for coloring this amazing Brighter Days Ahead clear stamp set from the rest of the design team. I started by printing the Brighter Days Ahead scene on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White paper and coloring it with Copic markers.

COPIC MARKERS:

• Rocks (RV66, R89, R59, R56, RV95)

• Cacti (YG95, YG93, YG91, G85, G29, YG676, YG63, YG61)

• Sun (YR23, Y17, Y15)

PAPER & EVERYTHING ELSE

• Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80lb Paper

• Card Stock - Crushed Curry, Merry Merlot

• Additional Stamp Sets - Prickly Pear Cactus

• Distress Oxide Inks - Seedless Preserve, Crackling Campfire, Wild Honey

• Bearly Art Glue, Foam Tape, Clear Dots

Brighter Days Ahead Stamp Set

The card base is from Merry Merlot and the measurements are 5 1/2" x 11", scored at 5 1/2" on the long side. Make sure you use your bone folder and burnish the fold well so it doesn't tear the fold.

The layer on top of the Merry Merlot is Crushed Curry. It's cut to 5 3/8" x 5 3/8". Obviously you can make it whatever size make you happy. I used my score board to make a small score line all the way around the layer to give it an embossed feeling. It's glued to the card base with wet glue.

I cut another piece of Merry Merlot and glued it to the center of the Crushed Curry. Makes sure not to cover up your score lines if you use the technique. It is cut to 5" x 5".

I cut another piece of Neenah paper 4 7/8" x 4 7/8" and used the Distress Oxide inks to color the sunset background. The mountain scene was fussy cut very closely leaving no white paper showing around the edges and glued down to the bottom edge of the Distress Oxide ink background. These together were glued down to the Merry Merlot layer.
