53 Chevy with Stacy....

Here is one last card for May as the Prickley Pear's guest designer gig.  This car is the 53' Chevy from the newest release. This is the larger version of this image, so this card is A-6 in real life. This is stamped with Memento on Neenah and colored with Copic markers, Gellyroll glaze pens, Wink of Stella pens, Faber-Castell pens. The metal Journey plate is unknown.

The mat under the stamped panel is a Die Cuts With A View shimmery teal color and the base is Stardream Aquamarine which is a shimmer cardstock. I did add some score lines to this for texture.
Here is another angle I took hoping to catch the glimmers and shines on this. Thanks for taking a look and most esp. to Michelle for asking me to play along here with these fun Prickley Pear stamps and dies this month I have enjoyed it.

Altered Matchbox Tutorial

Altered Matchbox Tutorial
Today I am going to share with you a tutorial for a large matchbox that I designed.  These matchboxes can be used for small gifts, keepsakes, candy or even a mini album.  For Christmas last year I made one and then designed a mini album that I stored inside.  It was really sweet so I decided to share it with you. It turned out really pretty and I just love the flowers - they are adorable!!

This is what the finished product looks like.

Basic supplies:  scoreboard, ruler, adhesive, scissors, cardstock and coordinating patterned papers.

For the base (bottom of the matchbox) - start with an 7 1/2 x 9 1/2 piece of cardstock.  Score it at 1 inch and again at 2 inches on all four sides.

This is what it should look like after scored.

Cut the three outer squares from each corner.  (cut on the dotted lines)
Fold on all score lines.
Create flaps by cutting down one side of the remaining squares in each corner.  It doesn't matter which direction you cut the flap.  (Note: when I make boxes I like to cut my flaps at an angle. That way when they are folded in the box goes together much better.

Now, glue the four small flaps to the adjacent side and then fold the four most outer flaps in to form a box.

This is the finished bottom of the matchbox.

For the lid:  Start with a 5 1/2 x 11 inch piece of cardstock.  Score it at 2 1/2, 3 1/2, 7 and 8 inches - on the long side of the cardstock.

Fold on the score lines and then glue the two ends together.  I found it helpful to wrap the lid around the bottom of the matchbox to make sure the fit is correct and then draw a line where the edge of the cardstock comes. You don't want to make the lid tight as the bottom of the box will not slide out easily.

This is what the bottom and top look like when finished.
Now you get to embellish the matchbox.  (Note: you will only embellish the lid as the bottom of the matchbox only get the drawer pull)

To embellish the lid you will need two
3 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch pieces of patterned paper and two 1 x 5 1/2 inch pieces of patterned paper.
I inked all papers with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

Once I covered the lid with coordinating papers I die cut a flourish, and a fancy rectangle that I covered with coordination paper. I stamped some flowers and leaves on cardstock using Tim Holtz Peeled Paint Distress Ink and then die cut them.

I added the drawer pull, pearls and brads to finish it up.

Here is a close up of the top of the matchbox. Aren't the flowers just adorable??

Here is a picture with the drawer pulled out.

Tissue Box Tutorial with Tracy

Good Morning, this is a tutorial I have done for Prickley Pear, it's to make a Tissue Box, an ideal little something to give to someone who has a cold and needs a little cheering up.

So here are the materials you will need to make it:

PPRS CLR013C Scalloped Circles and Ovals 4 clear set
D041 Scallop Circle Nesting Set
A4 sheet of card
Patterned Paper
flowers
Brad (for the center of flower)
Velcro or Magnet for closure of box
Sentiment printed onto safmat

So here's what to do:

Draw this template on to your piece of A4 card, (click on the picture to enlarge), all the measurements are there.

Cut out the template and score along the dotted lines and fold.  At this point you also need to cut into the front of the box so you can pull out your tissues easily.

Now measure and cut panels of patterned paper to decorate your box as in picture above, using either a wet glue or strong red D/S tape, assemble the box, it's easy to see where you need the adhesive.

It should now look like this.  Now it's time to add decoration and velcro.

For my sentiment I typed it up on the computer and then printed onto Safmat, I coloured a Prickley Pear stamp, these cute ducks and added to the front, then I just added flowers with a brad in the centre.

Now just add a packet of tissues and you have the perfect little gift to cheer up someone with the sniffles!

Thank you for looking at my tutorial
Happy crafting

Stacy's Vintage Card Duo!

This is actually the first thing I made when Michelle asked me to do this guest spot for Prickley Pear this month and I put off posting her to be able to post her with that little guy below from the newest release. So, it's a two-fer day! This is the girl with an basket. She is stamped on Neenah with Memento and colored with Copic markers & gelly roll pens. This panel is inked along the edges with some creamy brown fluid chalk ink and is popped up on pop dots above the Neenah Millstone layer.
Here is a closer look at this gal. Prickley Pear has such a fun selection of vintage feeling images and its fun to color them. This ribbon/trim is really vintage with an pre-printed wish ticket and a Making Memories heart brad. This is all tied together with some May Arts Burlap string.
This is A-7 in real life, the scrip printed paper is from Echo Park, the dots is from Bo Bunny and the base is Night of Navy.

This little guy is Bobby Bronco from the new release and the sentiment is also a single stamp found here. This is also A-7 in real life, the brown mat paper is from 7gypsies, the gingham paper is from Pebbles. The clock button is unknown, there are seed beads tied to the dangling ends of the burlap string and the photo corners are from Heidi Swapp.
Here is a closer look at the coloring and the hemp string tied like an Bolo tie. He is stamped with Memento on Neenah and colored with Copic markers & Faber-Castell Pitt pens. After blending the horse's body I did use a Copic 000 marker to move some of the ink on the horse's end to give him that dapple look.   This whole panel is up on pop dots.

Stacy Designs For The Fellas!

Is that not the coolest sentiment for summer or what? I love this and know I will get a lot of use out of it. Its from the newest release at Prickley Pear and I have used it with this fishing silhouette image also from them. These were both stamped with some Versafine ink on some old BasicGrey printed paper that I had inked with some distress inks (that did not show up) and then the bottom edges were torn and also inked which did show up since the core was white. The top of the card base it self was run through a Cuttlebug Distressed Stripes folder (twice) because the card is landscape style it was very easy to see where to place the folder to line it up and get no line.
Remember last week's gift card butterfly? That was cardstock that was underneath this cheese cloth. it was spritz'd and sprayed with some Adirondack Butterscotch Glimmer Mist, Sea Glass and Heidi Swapp Seafoam Color Shine sprays.  I did open it up and wind/wrap it loosely around the stamped panel between its mat panels. The edges of these have some teeny Karen Foster screw brads to help hold the layers together. This card is 5X7 in real life.
While I was messing around with that I had thought this stamp was wide enough for a shipping tag, so this was also stamped in Versafine on an previously stained tag (green) and the skyline was over colored with some orange Copic markers to give it that end of the day feel and then I added in the happy birthday sentiment also from Prickley Pear and tied on some scrappers floss.
