Designer Jenn Borjeson using GG0173 Hope Your Halloween, FF0163 Daisy the Zombie
Check out the glittery accents to the web die cut, and a fall color scheme takes this card to a whole different place!  The sentiment is a great example of using your sentiments in an out-of-the-box way, you can make them say whole new things!
Designer Jenn Borjeson using EE0168 Brewing Up A Batch 1, KK0039 Scary Tree
Paper piecing gives the tree a whole bunch of eyes!  Check out how she lined up the eyes into the eyes of the image!  Just great!
Designer: Tracie Clary using EE0160 Beware and Take Care, D039 Spiderweb Gate, CC0059 Dancing Kitty.  The moon is a perfect place to add a whole bunch of dancing kitties!  Check out the bats flying in the sky, they are from the top of our Spiderweb Gate Die! Thinking out-of-the-box gave her a new card embellishment!

October is Waxing...

Welcome To Prickley Pear Design Team Monday!    The frost is creeping in to all corners here in Wisconsin...we have a few more fall samples to share with you!  Grab a cup of warm cider and enjoy!
First order of business...we have a new design team member joining us today!  We would like to introduce to you Angela Bode!

Hi!  I am Angie, and for the past 23 years, my husband and I have called Georgia our home.    We live on 3 acres of land and enjoy the change of seasons we see displayed on our little bit of land!  We have two teens, a boy and a girl that keep us hopping from activity to activity! Two felines walked out of the woods over the past 6 years and adopted us so if I am not crafting I am probably cuddling a bit of furry wildness!   I have been happily addicted to paper crafting since May of 2011.  I love playing with die cuts, inks, sprays, paints and stamps!   I am so excited to be guest designer with Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps.  I have had so much fun working with the delicate lines of the images.  The beautiful artistry in the designs of Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps make it a breeze to create a beautiful project!  You can see what I have been creating here: I Would Rather Be Stamping  .

Angela's first card features GG0171 Midnight Choir.  Love that the color scheme is simple, it really makes the washi tape and image pop!

Designer Jenn Borjeson using HH0142 Zombie Xing.
The presentation of this card is perfection from the chain link die to the papers and embellishments!

Designer: Tracie Clary using Witch on Pumpkin.  Love the die in black which adds a spiderweb effect!  Great embellishments to house a perfectly colored image!

Designer: Heidi Erickson using EE0168 Brewing a Batch 1, KK0039 Scary Tree.  Love the subtle coloring and shading of the image...and the white gel pen accents!

Designer: Jessica Pascarella using GG0173 Hope Your Halloween.  This is clean and simple simplicity, putting the focus on the sentiment and the only other embellishment a big harvest moon!

Designer: Kina Nunziante using EE0170 Nutty sm, CLR008 Pumpkin Patch, D008 Pumpkin Die.  Love little Nutty all fussy cut on this card with the twine behind to add dimension.

Designer: Michelle Pearson using GG0031 Black Eye Susans, CLR023 Mini Butterflies 2 Clear Set,  D023 Mini Butterfly Die.  I'm bucking the system here....these must be the last flowers of the season..but I am sneaking it in before the snow falls!  I fussy cut them all...just because I'm kinda nuts!  The saying I think has been retired, but you could use it for birthdays or thinking of you cards any time.

Designer:  Brenda Weatherill using HH0140 Spiderweb ATC, FF0164 Homer the Raven.  Love the way the ATC card has the oval cut out and then the hat and the wing are dimensional!

Miriam Napier - Guest Designer Week 4

It's week # 4 for Miriam Napier as our Guest Designer.

Miriam:
I instantly fell in love with this lady from the 50's decorating her tree!  Her clothes are perfect for paper piecing.

Stamping her on patterned paper adds some pizazz!   I colored her skin with Copics and added some tiny pearls for a necklace.  The top layer is popped with foam tape.

Inside the card I stamped and matted the lovely sentiment.

Guest Designer Miriam Napier WEEK 3!

It's week #3 for Miriam Napier as our Guest Designer!

It's week #3 for me as the Prickley Pear Guest Designer!  I know it's a little early for Christmas cards but many of us card makers start early!  Plus, I have some really cute Christmas images from Prickley Pear.  This "Holiday Birds" image is so cute but needed lots of matting to make it big enough for a card.

The bluish layer is glitter paper and really gives the card a holiday feel.  I put a little glitter glue on some of the lights for sparkle.  Finished size is 3 5/8 x 5 1/4.
Check out the Prickley Pear Blog for lots of fun card ideas!

Guest Designer Miriam Napier - Week 2!

This is Miriam Napier's second week Guest Designing for us...and this week she used the GG0038 Scribble Kitty image.

Miriam says:
One of my tricks for making a quick card is to use patterned paper with a frame or images on it.  I paper pieced the kitty on the inside frame of this MME paper.  Add a piece of ribbon and done!

Check out the BB0047 Scribble Kitty Sm. used on the interior of the card!  Cute!!

Join us again next week to see another of Miriam's creations!

Textured Background Brew Card Duo and Tutorial

Today's cards feature new stamps and dies and a fun Textured Background Technique!

GG0170 Owl and The Pussycat was colored with Copic Markers.  The *wrought iron* embellishment is actually the new D038 Snowflake Pendant Die which I cut in half.

The background was created by using Chicken Feed Acrylic Paint on regular white cardstock.  I covered the panel using horizontal swipes, leaving the paint thicker in areas and leaving other areas white.

When the paint was dry, I then added some Art Anthology Sorbet Dimensional Gel Paint in Frost.  Again, I covered the panel in a horizontal direction.  I left thicker areas an others that were smooth until I had the desired effect.

Once dry I attached the panel to my cardstock and then covered the long edges with Washi Tape.

I stamped EE0161 Brewing Up A Batch 2 on a piece of painted cardstock with Stazon and then covered the stamping with the Dimensional Gel Paint.

On this card I did the same process, but the purple and green circles were done with Ranger Distress Stains ( peeled paing and dusty concord) rather than the acrylic paint.  I stamped the images on top of the dimensional gel paint which I applied smoothly to these panels.

Papers by My Mind's Eye' Lost And Found Two Rosy collection.

This is a great way to add a bit of interest to a card without adding fussiness!  Give it a try!
