Miriam Guest Designer Week 7!

I'm back on the holiday theme with week #7 of my Prickley Pear Guest Designer stint.  This time I took an elegant oval stamp from the Scalloped Oval 3 Winter and stamped it in Broken China.

The frosty swirls are stamped in pigment ink and heat embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder. Inside....
I just had to use that cute little street lamp on the inside!
Check out the Prickley Pear blog for great card and project ideas.
Finished size is 5 1/2 x 4

Jessica's Chalkboard Technique Tutorial

Hello, Prickley Pear fans! It's Jessi from Kissin' Krafts

I have a quick question for you.

Do you love the Chalkboard trend as much as I do? And I am really loving pairing up the technique with my Christmas projects! I know that there are a few different ways to complete the chalkboard look. Today I am showing you my favorite way.

So here is result:

I like to use chalkboard vinyl, instead of cardstock, to create the chalkboard part of the card. I stamp the image onto the vinyl using white ink. The ink will take a while to dry. So this is the part where you set it aside and move on with your day.

The longer you let the image dry, the 'brighter' white the chalkboard finish will be. On this project, I let the image dry around twelve hours. I used a cotton ball to smear the image.

Go over the image as many time needed to reach the coloring you are looking for.

Once you reach the look, it is time to cut the image out and attach to your project.

Thank you for stopping by! Stop by the Prickley Pear Store to see the wide variety of images available for your next project!

Have a great day!
Jessi

Miriam's Guest Designer Post

Miriam: I'm continuing the fall theme with week #6 of my Prickley Pear Guest Designer stint.  This time I took a cute oval stamp from the Scalloped Oval 3 Winter set and colored it up with a fall color palette.

Inside I used the Home for the Holidays stamp so it would have a Thanksgiving theme.
Finished size is 4 1/2 x 3 3/4.

Michelle's Second Glitter Tutorial!

Hello there!  Michelle here again with some more glittery goodness to share!  Today I took the glittery background to another level....it's now entirely made of glitter, and multiple colors at that!

My first card uses the HH0146 Frosty Headlines image which I simply stamped on designer paper....but here are the steps I did to achieve the eye-popping background:
1.  I had two A2 sized pieces of redline tape sheets, 4.25 x 5.5 inches, one of which I cut with the Cheery Lynn Lattice die.
I removed the liner from the die cut sheet and peeled off one side of the full remaining piece of red line tape.  Press the liner firmly onto the sticky tape with the lining sheet you just removed.
2.  Add the first glitter color, in this case the teal.  Rub the glitter into the tape and then brush off your panel.

3.  Carefully remove the red lattice liner and apply the second color of glitter....in this case silver!  Rub the glitter into the tape to cover the lattice design, brush off your panel and you're done!
Check out that glittery goodness close up!  It is entirely smooth and so very eye-catching!  Here is another card I did using this technique, and three colors of glitter!
This one takes a bit more time as you also have to place the lining pieces over the flower petals.  Glitter the green portion first, then remove the flower petal pieces and glitter brown and finally remove the Daisy Lattice Frame liner and add the red glitter.  I find a sharp tweezers very helpful in placing the liner pieces...and be sure to press them down firmly before you glitter or you will get a bit of bleed-through as I did on this one.
On my second card I used all sorts of images:  CLR031A Poinsettia 2 Holiday Clear Set, D031 Poinsettia Die, CLR022 Pumpkin and Snowman Clear Set, D022 Pumpkin and Snowman Die, GG0094 Collage Pinecone Tag.

Michelle's First Glitter Tutorial!

Michelle here today with the first of two glitter tutorials!

My first card uses CLR023A Mini Butterflies 2, D023 Mini Butterflies Die, CLR033 Spring Flourished Ovals, D033 Flourished Oval Die.

This technique involves a sheet of Red Line Tape which I cut into quarters.  I am using a Cheery Lynn Designs Die called FRM118 Daisy Lace Frame.   I cut the tape sheet with my die using the Big Shot and the metal adapter plate that works so dandy with these intricate dies.
Next I popped out all of the pieces leaving just the frame.  Peel off the backing and apply carefully to your cardstock.
Then comes the messy part!  Peel off the redline liner and apply your glitter to the exposed tape!
And then my favorite part...when I can clean up the mess and have an amazing background to create on!
I will leave you with another card using this same die and technique.  It always amazes me what a difference changing a color scheme can make!  With the endless combinations of Prickley Pear images and coordinating dies, there is no end to the fun cards you can come up with!

My second card uses: CLR037 Fall Leaves, D037 Leaf Set Die, CLR023A Mini Butterflies 2, D023 Mini Butterflies Die, CLR012 Flowers and D012 Flowers Die.

I will be back with another amazing glitter technique soon!  I've been busy in the studio today...and I'm glitter from head to toe!  I'm proud to say my dust bunnies wear glitter in this house!  :)
