Thinking of You

This weekend, there is a great sketch challenge going on over at Card Patterns Sketch Challenge.
I decided to play along. I just love how versatile the Hibiscus Clear Stamp and matching Habiscus Die Set. I have found so many uses for these fun stamps and dies.
For the challenge we needed a ribbon element, and I find that I am short on ribbon, so I cut 3 flower die shapes first, then stamped into the shapes and painted with watercolor paint. Once dry, I cut the flowers in half, and used as my ribbon element for the card.
For my focal point, I used the Love is in the Air stamp.
I think the pulled together card is beautiful, and it was sooooo easy to do!

Life is a Journey

Today there is a really fun sketch challenge going on over at 365 Cards. I just had to play along. I had an idea to use the Buld a Bird Clear Stamps set along with the matching die. The die really makes building the bird quick and easy. This set is just sooooo much fun to use.
First I cut the bird die with water color paper. I then stamped the bird into the shapes using VersaFine black ink. A little bit of yellow paint gave me just enough shading for the wings and body.
I then punched two scalloped circles in different shades of yellow. In the smaller scalloped circle I stamped our Flower Border Circle using VersaMark and clear embossing powder. I layered all elements as shown.
To create the rays of the sun portion. I first punched a large scalloped circle. I placed that circle down in the lower left corner to use as a guide. I stuck down with repositionable tape. I stamped our fancy flourish several times around the scallop to create the rays with VersaMark. I pulled up the scallop, dusted with clear embossing powder and heat set.
Next, I stamped the Crown Journaling Box and Life is a Journey into the center. I then painted with a bit of yellow to shade. I finished with the little bird, yellow yarn, flower punchies and buttons.
Card size when finished is 4.25 by 5.5.

Fun Sketch Challenge to Play Along With

I was digging through my demo box looking for inspiration, and found a cornocupia transparency that I had already glittered up and had semi finished. I know... fall is six months away! But would you believe that I am already illustrating Halloween and Fall right now? So, I have already been in the mood for cooler weather and the turning of the leaves. Although, living in AZ, you do have to travel a bit to see the leaves changing.
To make this card. I first colored the transparency with copic markers (working on the back side). Once colored, I pulled out my clear drying glue and applied to the back side of the transparency over what I had colored with the markers. Next, I sprinkled silver glitter over the glue, set aside and let dry.
Once dry, I mounted to a piece of paper that had been distressed. I then layered onto green and tan card stocks as shown.
I used the colors of the transparency as my color guide for the rest of the card. I pulled out red mulberry, and sage papers to punch the little leaves and flowers.
I layered all elements onto leaf patterned paper and finished with a mulberry ribbon, buttons and a paper flower, and stamped "Thinking of You" at the bottom.

Happy Mothers Day!

I love a good sketch challenge, and I had all of the papers I wanted to use, and the stamps (all can be found in the new stamps section in the PPRS store front) I wanted to use rolling around in my head, but how to put them all together. And then I saw this little sketch challenge on the CardPatterns blog that they are doing this weekend. I just had to follow along.
I was in the mood for a vintage Mothers Day card. These images are great for a general girl friend type card as well, and why not... my mother is my friend as well.
Happy Mothers day to everyone!

Fairy Dust

Today I thought it would be fun to play along on 365 Day Sketch Challenge. I was in the mood for a little bit of whimsy. So I pulled out the Fairy Dust stamp, Star Light - Star Bright, and the Funky Floral Background. I stamped the fairy in gold. Stamped the mulberry paper with versamark and the Funky Floral Stamp. I then layered onto sage card stock and then onto a lighter mulberry card stock. I finished with a Prema flower in the corner topped with a charm. I then stamped Star Light - Star Bright onto tan card stock, and edged with the lighter mulberry card stock. I finished the card by layering a sage damask patterned paper to the bottom, tying off with mulberry ribbon, and layering phrase at an angle. Stay tuned... We will be hosting our own sketch challenge today! You will have the chance to win a Half Sheet of Rubber of your choice!
